Blendage

There's some amazing 3d art around. It's a medium I expect to take off in the near future as properly free 3d modelling and animation tools like Blender come of age and start to challenge established (and expensive) products like 3DS Max and Maya.
Anyway, here are a few results of my dabblings with 3D art. Enjoy, and if you need something to play the videos, try VLC.

Skeletal animation Taking BVH motion capture files and applying them to simple models, starting with stickmen and moving up to low poly humans. Mikey
Low Poly Human Modelling There are lots of tutorials out there on this topic, and several 3D packages specifically geared to it. It's all about time. Deus Ex got some great results with a low poly count.
Texturing/ UV Mapping Goes hand-in-hand with low poly modelling, and at its best can be a good substitute for a high poly count. Chrono Cross. Low polys, amazing looking characters.
Mesh Thievery I'd like to pull the characters out of Chrono Cross and maybe a couple of the Final Fantasy games, and Pete's GPU Plugin for ePSXe allows turning off of polygon filling, so it should be possible to recreate at least the PCs, and hopefully those three famous children... Chrono Cross. Specifically the Character Status screen.
Animated facial textures Pulling together 2d facial animation and 3d low poly modelling to allow game-style characters to emote. Me. Although I think this was done in Grim Fandango.
